I love New Year's Eve because it is one of those holidays where you can really have some fun with what you wear! The dress code all depends on which place you're going to go party. For the symphony concert, fine dining restaurant, theater or upscale sky rise party your best option is formal wear. Sequins and sparkle are perfect for the night's celebrations! For the more casual and festive event it's perfectly acceptable to wear a nice pair of jeans paired with an evening top. Again some sparkle on the jeans and/or blouse is perfectly acceptable. Or you can accessorize with metallic jewelry for that sparkle effect!
